Learn some classic riffs from some of the greatest Chicago blues harp players. I will take examples from the CD “Harp Attack” which contains work from Junior Wells, James Cotton, Carrie Bell and Billie Branch.
This classic CD was released in 1990 on Alligator records. We utilize a C and G harmonica primarily for this class with one song on an E harmonica.
What’s great about studying some riffs from these various artists is that they each have their own unique approach and sound. On many of the songs, you can find harmonica from more than one of these artists. For this class we will use a C, G and A harmonica Songs that I’m going to grab riffs from include: Down Home Blues, Who Told You, Broke & Hungry, Keep Your Hands Out of my Pocket, Hit Man, Somebody Changed the Lock and New Kid on the Block.
