Ronnie Shellist and Peter “Madcat” Ruth
October 9th from 11am-1pm Central
This summit will focus on two topics:
- Rhythm & Rhythm syllables
- Tone Modulation: shaping the tone of individual notes and phrases
This summit will be centered around all things rhythm and tone. These are some of the most important topics to focus on in your harmonica journey. Peter Madcat Ruth is possibly the most advanced rhythm player that I have ever heard in my years of playing.
In 1966, he met and took lessons from Big Walter Horton himself. I’ve heard some of the stories surrounding his lessons and they are legendary. I’m sure if pressed, he will share a bit about his time with Big Walter with the group. Madcat has also been able to record and perform with the Brubeck family, “Take 5” ring a bell?, and has toured performing jazz and fusion rock with the Brubeck family over the years. He has also released his own solo albums and instructional DVDs.
He wouldn’t boast but he won a Grammy in 2006 for soloist on the best classical album of 2005 ‘Songs of Innocence and Experience’.
Don’t miss this summit, it is going to be amazing!
