Position Playing Class
Join Ronnie Shellist for an in-depth look at how to identify and choose positions. Part of ear training is developing the ability to recognize positions when you hear harmonica in a song. The more you listen to examples, the easier it gets to identify positions. Once you can do this, it makes it easier to select the position you want to play over a particular song.
In this class, we use an A, D and G harmonica for this class but it is not necessary to have all of these keys to attend.
There are often times when multiple positions would be suitable which allows for some creative decision making. In this class we will listen to examples of 1st, 2nd and 3rd position playing and discuss clues to help you figure out which position you’re hearing. I will also be sharing insight as to how I select a position when I improvise. There is a method to the madness and I look forward to helping you make sense of position playing.
